Our Story

What does Rhema mean?

Rhema (ῥῆμα) is a Greek word for a word that is spoken: a saying, an utterance. In the New Testament it is often used for the words that come from God.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:4 · KJV

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Ephesians 6:17 · KJV

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Romans 10:17 · KJV

In each of these verses, the Greek word behind “word” is rhema.

Rhema and logos

Both rhema and logos are translated “word” in English Bibles. Logos is the wider word: a message, an account, the reason behind something, and in John 1:1 the Word who was with God and was God. Rhema more often means a word as it is spoken, a particular saying. The two overlap a great deal, and the New Testament often uses them side by side, so it is wise not to draw too sharp a line between them. Both are the word of God.

The Word as Delight

Born from Hunger

Rhema was born from a place of hunger; a deep desire to engage with the Word of God. As Jeremiah declares, "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, LORD God Almighty" (Jeremiah 15:16). The Word of God truly a delight, a nourishment and a guide for every heart. Like Ezekiel, who was told to "feed your belly with this scroll… and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey" (Ezekiel 3:3), we believe that Scripture is meant to be savored, absorbed and made part of us.

We create resources for kids, teens, and adults. At Rhema, we understand that sanctification (the daily work of being transformed into the image of Christ) happens as we interact with God's Word. That is why we design resources that make engagement with Scripture joyful, intentional and accessible. From thoughtfully crafted books to interactive card games, every product is created to encourage faith formation, reflection and spiritual growth. Through any form of interaction, even play, God's Word penetrates our hearts and shapes our thoughts, attitudes and actions.

Faith in Action

Beyond Products

Our mission goes beyond products. We seek to build a community where interaction with Scripture becomes a daily habit, a source of delight, and a path toward transformation. Through initiatives like our Community Read, we read inspiring books by Christian authors, discuss and reflect them weekly in our WhatsApp group. We also offer a Free Resources tab on our website, where you can access Bible-based tools and activities to help you and your family engage with Scripture in fun and meaningful ways. Rhema also believes in Lend a Hand — putting faith into action. We are committed to supporting, uplifting, and empowering our communities, because faith that is lived is faith that transforms.
